From abandoned 1950s house to five-bedroom family home

This house had been left empty for years. Knocking it down and starting again was an option. But it was structurally sound and had character worth keeping, so it stayed, and three bedrooms and one bathroom became five bedrooms and three bathrooms.

This tired, rundown late-1950s house had been left abandoned for years and was in desperate need of care and modernisation. Although there was an option to demolish and rebuild, the property was structurally sound and still had unique character features the clients wanted to retain.

The project involved a full strip-out, including the roof, followed by a front and side extension, full rewire, replumbing, new internal doors, skirting boards, architraves, bathrooms, flooring and decoration.

Externally, we constructed a retaining wall to the side of the property, allowing the decking to wrap around the house and create a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The through-colour silicone render system with external wall insulation gave the property an ultra-modern finish, improved performance and delivered real kerb appeal.

This tired three-bedroom, one-bathroom property was completely transformed into a stunning five-bedroom, three-bathroom family home — designed to be enjoyed for years to come.
