- An end-of-terrace brought back to life
An end-of-terrace brought back to life, extended on two floors
This end-of-terrace had a family bathroom you could only get to through a bedroom, and no downstairs loo. We extended it on both floors, moved the staircase and rebuilt it around how a family actually lives.
| Before | A neglected end-of-terrace with three bedrooms, no downstairs WC and the bathroom reached through a bedroom |
|---|---|
| The job | Complete strip-out and renovation, with ground-floor and first-floor extensions |
| Upstairs | Staircase relocated, a master bedroom with en-suite and a redesigned family bathroom |
| Downstairs | A kitchen and dining extension, a new downstairs WC, a chimney breast removed and aluminium bi-folds across the back |
| Outside | Through-coloured silicone render with external wall insulation, a retaining wall, landscaping and a patio |
This substantial renovation and extension transformed a neglected end-of-terrace property in a sought-after location into a spacious, modern family home finished to an exceptional standard throughout.
The original house suffered from a poor layout, no downstairs WC and an impractical first-floor arrangement where access to the family bathroom was gained through one of the three bedrooms. The property had also fallen into significant disrepair and required extensive structural and refurbishment works to bring it back to life.
The project involved a complete strip-out and full renovation inside and outside, alongside carefully designed ground-floor and first-floor extensions that dramatically improved both the layout and functionality of the home. The staircase was relocated to create a more logical flow between floors, while the first floor was completely reconfigured to provide a luxurious master bedroom with its own en-suite bathroom and a redesigned family bathroom serving the remaining bedrooms.
Downstairs, the property was opened up and remodelled to create bright, practical living spaces centred around a new kitchen and dining extension, together with the addition of a much-needed downstairs WC. Large aluminium bi-folding doors were installed across the rear elevation, flooding the space with natural light and creating a seamless connection between the home and garden. A chimney breast was removed as part of the structural alterations, helping to maximise floor space and create a more contemporary layout
Externally, the existing render was removed and replaced with a modern through-coloured silicone render system incorporating external wall insulation. This not only transformed the appearance of the property but significantly improved its thermal performance while eliminating the need for future repainting. Extensive external works also included the construction of a new retaining wall, landscaping, and a new patio area designed to create an attractive and usable outdoor space.
The renovation was completed with new plumbing, electrical installations, internal doors, skirting boards, architraves, flooring, tiling and decoration throughout, ensuring every element of the home met modern standards. The result is a completely transformed property that combines traditional character with contemporary design, delivering a beautiful, energy-efficient family home built to last for generations.
